Sidcup has it all for today's retirees

If we think of retirement, most of us see ourselves aiming for a less stressful way of living to enjoy every minute. This often starts with a move to a new property. In fact, 25% of retirees want to downsize according to the latest Knight Frank Report “Retirement Living comes of age”. Further research* finds that the perfect retirement property should be in close proximity to shops (63%), public transport (63%), restaurants (40%) and culture (35%).

Honor Barratt of Birchgrove comments: “As we enter retirement, we are less willing to compromise and rightly so. It’s all about location, location, location, which is why our residents are drawn to Sidcup. The community is lovely and offers convenient access to a number of amenities.”

In fact, Sidcup ticks all boxes of a retiree’s wish list. The High Street offers a choice of shops and supermarkets as well as cafés that boost the community feel, whilst many locals connect in local churches such as St Lawrence’s Catholic Church and New Community Church.

Nature fans can enjoy Scadbury Park Nature Reserve, directly opposite the new Birchgrove development, whilst sports enthusiasts can try their luck at one of Sidcup’s golf courses; three within 10 minutes of Sidcup to be precise. Those looking for a shopping spree can either drive 20 minutes up to Bluewater or jump on the direct train to London and indulge in everything the big city has to offer.

Irene Tomlinson who will be moving into one of the new Birchgrove apartments comments: “We love the communal feel of Sidcup and Birchgrove will also be a bit of a social hub with regular events and daytrips on offer. We can’t wait to be part of it. I’m glad we have decided to reserve an apartment sooner rather than later as this has given us the chance to select the most suitable apartment for us. Knowing a move in date will also help us plan our move in advance and we are using the ‘Moveasy package’ from Birchgrove, which means everything, from packing to unpacking, will be taken care of.”

Birchgrove residents benefit from an array of onsite amenities such as a gym, restaurant, communal gardens and re-assuring proximity to Queen Mary’s Hospital.
