Queensgate Apartments,

I recently visited Birchgrove and was shown around the assisted living apartments by Katie Grimwood.

Katie was professional, courteous and answered all our questions.

I was very impressed with the Birchgrove complex and staff.

"I wanted something different, a place where I could stay in control and keep my independence. I might need a bit of help to fix something, but I find I’m able to manage myself pretty well. I do all my own cooking and shopping and I like the fact I’m a free agent and can do as I want. I want to keep it that way."

I visit the lovely Queensgate community every month to see my mother, and stay 2 nights in the beautiful guest room. The staff and other residents always make me very welcome; it is a happy place to be. It is handy for the High Street, and buses further afield if needed, but there is always plenty going on within Queensgate itself, and a wonderful restaurant. My mother is very comfortable and I am reassured that she is so well situated and safe.

My mum has been a resident since June 2022. The staff are wonderful. Very caring, helpful and supportive. As a family member I have found a huge relief in knowing my mum is in a secure and caring environment.The facilities and entertainment provided is lovely and my mum has made new friends in later life who share her interests and with whom she enjoys socialising. The complex provides people living their last years the ability to be independent but with a secure network around them. I highly recommend and really appreciate what the staff do.

Moving into a retirement community where we have our own restaurant and chef on site preparing meals from produce you’ve helped grow, fills me with quite a sense of pride. All in all, moving here has proved very beneficial for me and I think I was really very lucky to be here

My parents moved in 3 years ago. This was the perfect option. 15 min drive from me. Renting so no property to sell in the future. Someone on site. Bar/coffee during the day. Bistro at lunch time. No care included but excellent staff who care. Care can be organised via another company The flats are well designed. The hallways and communal areas are really lovely. It’s a choice whether to stay in your flat or socialise daily or infrequently or not at all. Most importantly my parents consider this their home. My mum has recently moved to care home due to cognitive issues but she still enjoys coming back to visit. I could not be happier about their time here.

"We had been looking for a place that ticked all our boxes for some time. And, that visit to Queensgate Apartments, its rental model, the incredible team, the positive Birchgrove attitude and ability to solve problems (which I really like) meant…I turned to Mum and said...“come on, let’s just do it” and she said “yes”.

Matt is so patient and dedicated, always helping me with the computer. We never go hungry because Spencer, our chef spoils us - he makes the most wonderful cheese scones I’ve ever had in my life."
