Surrey Leading Ladies - Honor Barratt

"Birchgrove Managing Director, Honor Barratt, shares her thoughts with the team at Surrey Life magazine.
When and how did your business start?
Birchgrove provides high quality apartments for people in later life. Right from the beginning, before we even started the design process, we knew exactly what we wanted to create – a place older people could truly call ‘home’. From the outset, its design would enable people to continue to live as independently as possible for as long as possible, and it would offer all the services and support they could ever want to maintain their quality of life.
How have you managed to get through the past 12 months?
Life as we knew it changed dramatically with the lockdown rules. However, our concept of an assisted living community has taken on a whole new meaning of its own. We have stepped in to assist and support our residents and their families to make sure that no one is left isolated or lonely.
What are your hopes for the next 12 months?
All our residents and staff have been vaccinated and we want to make sure that our retirement communities are environments where everyone is supported to live the life they chose in the confidence that we’re there when they us the most.
